For the past week or so I’ve been getting dogged (big time) for my blunt management style.
Today I picked up the WSJ and was vindicated by Jeff Bewkes’ take on synergy: “it’s bull—-“ he told the WSJ.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…. what a breath of fresh air.
Clearly the new management style is admitting when you suck and having the courage to discuss sucking less. At the D Conference this week two of the most important executives in the world–Bill Gates and Terry Semel–were total honest and blunt about the issues facing their companies. These three guys run the biggest public companies in the world and they are out their admitting their problems and talking about the solutions… that’s leadership.
