Mahalo

Mahalo is a website that helps you “learn anything.”

It’s my third startup, and certainly the most challenging. We’re attempting to combine four modes of learning:

1. Comprehensive search like Naver.com, Google or Bing (i.e. links, news, social, video, images, etc).
2. Content like Wikipedia or About.com
3. Question & Answer like Yahoo Answers, Vark or Quora
4. Educational Videos like Howcast or eHow

We’re going to launch version 4.0 of Mahalo in January of 2011 and that should really help folks understand what we’re doing. :-)

I only pick up numbers I recognize, and in terms of emailing me, the best strategy is to write short, blunt and to the point requests. I can quickly respond to short messages, and many times I simply don't have the time to read five page pitches. In terms of taking meetings, I only do that after reviewing an actual product (not a business plan). So, the best time to ping me is when you have mockups or an alpha site. I don't read business plans, and I've never written one.
