Seems as if anyone can add anyone to a Facebook Group.

There is no “opt in.”

In this case someone added Mike Arrington and I to the “NABLA” group
on Facebook. I know I’m not a member of NAMBLA, and I’m going to guess
that Mike isn’t either.

I’ve now been assigned to a group that advocates… well…. ummm….
you can look it up–it’s very bad.

Also troubling:

1. I was never asked to join the NABLA group
2. I was never informed that I was “force-joined” to the NABLA group.

If you guys want to run these new features by me before you launch
them, I can probably save you from a couple of privacy law suits each
year. :-)

    This would never be tolerated if it wasn’t FB. People would leave the site immediately. FB is the epitome of absolute power corrupting absolutely. It’s sad that people keep making excuses for them and are so locked into the “game” that they can’t leave..apparently no matter what happens.

    Alright guys, here it is. An application that will send you email digest from facebook groups. The app is called “Group Email Digest” and is available at http://digest.myblive.com or http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=106947259372688. The app shows you a list of groups you are a member of (new groups as well as old groups) and allows you to subscribe to one or more of them for daily email digest. This will keep your mailbox clean and updated.

I only pick up numbers I recognize, and in terms of emailing me, the best strategy is to write short, blunt and to the point requests. I can quickly respond to short messages, and many times I simply don't have the time to read five page pitches. In terms of taking meetings, I only do that after reviewing an actual product (not a business plan). So, the best time to ping me is when you have mockups or an alpha site. I don't read business plans, and I've never written one.
