Most folks really don't. Batteries only last a few minutes on a desktop and laptops have batteries built in. I don't know about where you live, but where I live, my home insurance company also gave me a discount when I installed one of these. If you really want a big power bar with a battery, go with APC. Their management software makes them the market leader for a reason.
