Do you need battery backup? Most folks really don't.
Batteries only last a few minutes on a desktop and laptops have batteries built in.

Bob Vila and I recommend having an electrician install a Whole House Surge Protector:

You will never need to buy another surge protector again and this gives everything (your home theater, all of your equipment, etc) protection. I don't know about where you live, but where I live, my home insurance company also gave me a discount when I installed one of these.

If you really want a big power bar with a battery, go with APC. Their management software makes them the market leader for a reason.

Go with one of these:

$187.89 from Amazon. It has a pretty LED screen, 8 Outlets and enough juice to keep things running for a while.
