Design Performance Electric Buy

Greetings from Tesla Motors!

Since the Model S was first unveiled back in March, we have seen remarkable interest and have taken a tremendous amount of reservations in just a few months! We are thrilled to have you on board as a future owner and we look forward to keeping you informed of the latest developments through emails like this one and through updates in the Owner's Area.

I may have spoken with you already, if not, let me introduce myself. My name is Matthew Zatto and I am the customer advocate for Model S. Should you have any questions or suggestions going forward; please send them my way. My goal is to make the Owner's Area a useful and informative resource while you await the production of your special car.

One of the most intriguing and revolutionary aspects of the Model S is the 17" infotainment touchscreen. View a recent presentation from Tesla's Chief Designer about how we are re-inventing the driving experience.

Recently, we displayed the Model S in two of the most prestigious car events in the World – The Concorso Italiano during the Pebble Beach, CA auto show weekend in August and the Frankfurt International Motor Show last month. You can see all the latest Model S event images in the 'insider gallery' of the Owner's Area. The Frankfurt show's undoubted theme was hybrid and electric vehicles, with all eyes focused sharply on the Tesla Roadster. The Frankfurter Allgemeine, Germany's main business newspaper, put the Roadster on the cover for its first-day coverage of the show, despite the fact that domestic automakers like Audi, Volkswagen and Mercedes unveiled their own concept EVs.

Our visit started the previous week with the opening of Tesla's German flagship Store, Tesla Store Munich. The Model S prototype is currently on display at the Munich Store. I will be releasing more information on the prototype's showroom and event schedule in the next update.

I would also like to introduce two of the top engineers leading the Model S project: Peter Rawlinson and Henry Brice. "It's truly an honor to work alongside Peter and Henry, who represent the best and the brightest of the automotive industry said Tesla CEO Elon Musk. "They've engineered and manufactured some of the world's most recognizable and acclaimed vehicles – from concept to assembly line. This is precisely the type of depth and breadth of expertise we are aggressively recruiting to ensure that the Model S will be a superlative product."

I look forward to keeping you apprised of the latest and greatest developments from the Model S project!

Best regards,
Matt

Josh Harris post #wlip screening

Just got this in… breaking!

best, Jason

================
Jason,

I thought you might be interested to know that I received an email from one
of the Keiretsu chapters [REMOVED] stating that they were changing their
policy on presentation fees and that for the time being are waiving all
presentation fees for “true startups”.

We are a [REMOVED NAME OF INCUBATOR] company and I was introduced to
the local Keiretsu
chapter through one channel or another. At the time I was not aware (or let
it get right past me) that there was a fee to present until we had been
asked to come in to the screening. When I told them we would not
pay they reassured me that the screening was free and that we could discuss
fees if we were invited to present to the forum. I figured it was a decent
opportunity for pitch practice and used it as such. And with all the hubbub
going on, I wanted to see the ugly underbelly. Well of course we were
selected (because we kick ass) and when I again told them no pay to play for
us, they informed me that they are changing their policy and that for the
time being the fees for “true startups” is being waived.

There is still a long way to go, but it is wonderful to see that you, with
the vocal support of Brad Feld, Fred Wilson and all the other outstanding
mentors we have been able to engage this summer, are able to make a
difference.

And if it does come to pass that you establish the Open Angel Forum, we
would love to be the first in line to present – both because we are actively
seeking funding and to show our support to you and the others involved.

Jason,
Thanks for taking on the “big guys”. I wanted to share with you my
experience with K4. In [DATE REMOVED], I payed $4500 to present to all
4 [LOCATION REMOVED] chapters. The “normal” rate would have been $7500
- but because this was [MONTH REMOVED], I was able to negotiate with
K4 because attendance was going to be a bit less than normal. They
still guaranteed that I will present to full room – with internet
access (which was critical for my presentation) – and that over 50% of
those present will be accredited investors – not service providers. I
presented to 3 groups (some were as tiny as 9 people) and almost 95%
of those present were service providers who wanted to sell me their
services!.. – and only 1 out of the 4 “venues” had internet access.

Also, they represented that they would follow up with all the
interested investors and send me the list of emails so that I could
contact them. Out of that list a number of emails were incorrectly
collected by K4 (mis-spelled, incomplete, etc.), and most we’re not
from investors – but again, from service providers… Not surprising,
since there were very few investors actually present.

When I complained about the fraud and asked for my money back, the
answer was basically “you just didn’t like the outcome, tough luck!”.
I have no problem with presenting to investors and being politely or
in-politely rejected based on the merits of my business – I’ve done
that for many years. But this was a case of delivering a
“product/service” that was not as promised and frankly misleading and
very unprofessional.

I had some friends in the group at the time and came to a couple more
meetings even after the event – but I developed such a disgust for the
operation, that I swore to not have anything to do with that group
again – I haven’t had any contact with them for about [YEARS REMOVED]
years now.

Feel free to call me if you want more information on this and let me
know if there’s anything I can do to help this cause.

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Hello, my name is Jason. Welcome to my blog on the interwebs. You can reach me on twitter @jason and by email at jason@calacanis.com. My Skype is jasoncalacanis, and my mobile phone is 310-456-4900.

I only pick up numbers I recognize, and in terms of emailing me, the best strategy is to write short, blunt and to the point requests. I can quickly respond to short messages, and many times I simply don't have the time to read five page pitches. In terms of taking meetings, I only do that after reviewing an actual product (not a business plan). So, the best time to ping me is when you have mockups or an alpha site. I don't read business plans, and I've never written one.
