She already got the regular flu shot I also plan on getting the regular flu shot. I am just unsure of the vaccine for H1N1. Can it do more harm than good? People who are claiming that it's "brand new" and "untested" know nothing about flu vaccines. ALL flu vaccines are "brand new" in that sense. They produce them every year from scratch, depending on what the strain of the flu is likely to be for the year. The flu mutates too rapidly for one batch of vaccine to remain effective for much over a year or two. So in that sense, the H1N1 vaccine is exactly as safe as the "normal" flu vaccine, because it was produced in the exact same way, using the exact same equipment. Every strain of flu is slightly different every single year. The fact that this one got people all panicky means nothing at all.
