At iMedia Summit in Ft. Meyers…

Made it to Ft. Meyers tonight after a long travel day. Still finishing off my keynote for Tuesday. right now the title is Good vs. Evil 2.0, and in the presentation I’m looking at the cycle of new technologies and marketings. Typically the cycle involves user adoption, good and bad marketers experimenting, users revolting to those experiences, the setting of standards, and either the implosion or explosion of the medium. For example, email imploded as a marketing medium due to spam, but web-based advertising has exploded despite popups/adware.

Other examples I’m thinking of are astroturfing and wikipedia and of course blogs and payperpost.

Any other ideas of news mediums that were effected by over-aggressive marketing!?
