10-12 years of experience

I’ve got a new strategy when looking for folks to work on our projects: 10-12 years experience. I’ve become obsessed with looking for folks on LinkedIn who were working on the Web in 1995/96 AND WHO ARE STILL WORKING ON THE WEB.

It’s great… I’ve had a half dozen meetings in the new year with folks in this profile and it is amazing to see how well these folks think about problems when compared to folks who’ve been doing AJAX for three years.

Now, I’m not saying you shouldn’t hire someone with less than 10 years of web-experience… but it’s a great place to start looking. It’s also funny to write a classified that says “10 years web design experience required.”
