Why doesn’t the right participate in social news?

We are having an internal debate at Netscape–which is staffed overwhelmingly by liberals–about why the right isn’t participating in the social news trend.

My personal belief is that the right doesn’t waste their time on speculative technology (think: blogs, podcasting, and social software) until they have enough critical mass to impact voting. From what I understand it is much more effective to go to a church filled with people who actually vote then to waste your time online. Of course, I hate politics, politicians, and the whole slimy process… I know very little about it and don’t like being involved in it.

Toro, a bulldog

Hello. My name is Jason.
I'm the CEO of Mahalo.com, a human powered search engine. I was previously the co-founder of Weblogs, Inc. with Brian Alvey, and the GM of Netscape.

I'm currently on the board of social shopping site ThisNext. You might remember me from my days as editor and CEO of the Silicon Alley Reporter magazine.

Mike Arrington and I partnered on the TechCrunch40 event in September. We're going to do it again next year.

This is my blog, this is where I live. You should also listen to my podcast.
