Fred Wilson dances the collusionary line…
Fred’s post on Venture Fratricide is right on the the collusionary line and is certainly gonna startup a major debate. I just posted to his blog I was feeling very uncomfortable just reading about VCs talking inside like this your mind immediately goes to price (valuation) fixing which is also know as entrepreneur hell.
That being said I always give Fred the benefit of the doubt because I know he has good intentions and I know a ton of entrepreneurs who’ve worked with and loved him.
Just watch the line Fred you’re dancing on it.
My comments are under his post here: http://avc.blogs.com/a_vc/2005/05/venture_fratric.html
My Stalker wants to buy podcasting advertising “- this is getting scary.
Having your own dedicated stalker can be entertaining and extremely scary now my stalker wants to buy advertising on my podcast.
If this person was in the states and I could verify who they were I would certainly get a restraining order.
This is just. well wow. Scary.

Getting ripped off by Sportcompactracing.com
UPDATE: That was quick. The webmaster over at Sportcompactracing just agreed to stop lifting our content. You gotta love blogs.
We’ve had some folks lift our entire RSS feeds in the past, but after discussing the issue with them they all move to just headlines.
However, this site http://www.sportcompactracing.com/ is lifting the entire www.autoblog.com site and will not respond. You never want to call lawyers, but it is getting to that point.
I’m looking for creative ways to deal with it. anyone have ideas?
What would you do?
The best advertisement in blog post style to date…
We started doing advertisements in blog format months and months ago and they get clicked on 2-10x as much as banner ads.
More importantly, however, they get their message across. This post by Awaken is the best one I have seen yet. It tells you why the servicewhich rips your CDs so you don’t have tois worthy of your cash, and it even links to software which will let you rip your CDs yourself.
Now, that’s confidence, transparency, and authenticity all wrapped into one. I love it.
Trackbacks now enabled on Weblogs, Inc. blogs.
Last week someone took me to task for not having trackbacks.
I gave a lame excuse about all the trackback spam. Brian, Peter, and I had a quick discussion about it and decided to give it a try today by linking to technorati a la BoingBoing. I’m sure we’ll get a ton more links now because anyone who links to our blogs is now going to get the secondary traffic, and I’m sure half those inbound links will be spam.
However, it can’t hurt to try and I gotta think Dave at Technorati will keep the spam under control.
We’ll swap out Technorati for someone like Feedster next week and then we’ll pick the service that a) gives the best results and b) gives us the best deal for linking to them.
CalacanisCast #4: Is podcasting a business? (plus a little Dave Winer rant at the end)
OK, trying to keep the podcasts a little shorter. Episode IV is on podcastingbusiness or hobby? Plus I do a little rant about Dave Winer’s position that no one should make money from podcasting
and blogs (except of course him, since he created it what a hypocrite). Download here.

Best of Weblogs, Inc: TVSquad interviews Apprentice winner Kendra Todd
The team at TVSquad is doing an amazing job the site has become one of our fastest growing blogs. They just did an interview with Kendra Todd, winner of the third season of The Apprentice… of course if you believe the MSM blogs are just riffing off of MSM.
Some great questions including the one everyone has been asking:
TVSQUAD: Let’s talk about the jobs you and Tana were offered. A lot of our readers have commented they though the jobs were too “girly”, at least comparedto the jobs Bill and Kelly were offered.
Now, I wonder if we could get Raj, Danny orgulp Omarosa to blog with TVSquad that would be fun!
CalacanisCast #3: The D Conference, Loving Life, CCJ and the Amby debate

Why the per word rate is not applicable for blogging (and it’s not because I’m cheap)?
My old friend Tristan did a really comprehensivebut flawedjob comparing the per word rate of bloggers and magazine writers. Tristan is a really smart guy, but he got so caught up in building an Excel table that he forgot that writing for a magazine is much, much (much) more work then posting on a blog. Here is my IM conversation with him five minutes ago explaining what he missed.
tnlnyc: FYI: more number crunching
tnlnyc: http://www.tnl.net/blog/entry/Secrets_of_the_A-List_Bloggers
Jasoncalacanis: fyi: your last number crunching was way off
tnlnyc: really I went through every entry on that day
tnlnyc: what did I miss?
Bit Torrent Search - Revenge of the Sith - Hollywood Shutting down Google next?
BitTorrent has launched a search engine wow. It has adds fromI thinkAsk.com (the urls link to http://tmsyn.wc.ask.com)… Barry Diller will have those pulled down in the next 24 hours I’m sure. or maybe not.
You see, other search engines (i.e. Google) indexe Bit Torrent files so if you shut this site down then you really need to shut down Google. The most interesting thing for me was that there were results for Revenge of the Sith on a day like today.
