Podcast Software (or How to download podcasts.)

I’m getting a ton of emails about podcasts, what they are, and how they work.

Podcasts are home-made radio shows in mp3 file-format that are delivered via RSS feeds and automatically dumped onto your iPod (or other mp3 player).

Here is how to get into podcasting:

1. Download iTunes from www.apple.com

2. Download ipodder: http://www.ipodder.org/directory/4/ipodderSoftware

3. Add the following feeds to ipodder:
Reel Reviews:http://mwgblog.com/wp-rss2.php
Gadling: http://podcasts.gadling.com/rss.xml
Autoblog: http://podcasts.autoblog.com/rss.xml
Coverville: http://www.coverville.com/index.xml

4. Tune in to your podcasts on iTunes or your iPodipodder makes playlists for you automatically!

What other software are people using to download podcasts?

Toro, a bulldog

Hello. My name is Jason.
I'm the CEO of Mahalo.com, a human powered search engine. I was previously the co-founder of Weblogs, Inc. with Brian Alvey, and the GM of Netscape.

I'm currently on the board of social shopping site ThisNext. You might remember me from my days as editor and CEO of the Silicon Alley Reporter magazine.

Mike Arrington and I partnered on the TechCrunch40 event in September. We're going to do it again next year.

This is my blog, this is where I live. You should also listen to my podcast.
