Latest blog: The Mortgages Blog
Another day, another great blog launches at WIN: http://mortgages.weblogsinc.com/
This is an interesting hybrid mostly for the industry (B2B), but also for the professional consumer (B2c). We call these folks the “prosumers” here at the WIN Campus.
If you’ve got an idea for a blog let’s chat jason <at> calacanis <dot> com any time!
This week’s office…Union Square
I’m loving this virtual company thing. Having lived with a multi-million dollar, multi-year lease over my head for almost a decade it’s so liberating to not have to build a business for the benifit of my landlord.
This week I’m working from Union Square in New York City. The restaurant in the park, Luna Park, has great feee Wifi and they will let you sit at a table all day if you drop them a ten spotthat’s my kind of rent!
Office hours are open feel free to ping me at Yahoo IM jasoncalacanis for a meetting. My doorif I had oneis always open.
Photoshop and CSS Blogs/bloggers
We’re still looking for Photoshop blogger, and we would also like to find a CSS and Flash blogger to round our design blogs. Pariah has done an amazing job with Magazine Design and Design, and we want to drill down to even more categories. So, if you’re interested in blogging about Photoshop, CSS and/or Flashand making some spare change while getting even more famousdrop me a line!
Ana Marie Cox is made.
This is the single biggest blog PR moment to date. Congrats to Nick, but even more props to Ana Marie Cox of Wonkette who will have a book, movie and TV deal by Monday afternoon. I think Nick will be looking for a new editor in a couple of hours as the deals roll in.
Hugethis is seriously big for the entire industry if people didn’t know what a blog was this week, a large number will know next week.
Open Source blog open for business…
Well, after reading hundreds of emails (ugh) we found an excellent blogger to take on our Open Source blog. Please welcome Scott Granneman (who I’ve known from the WWWAC list for a bunch of years) the WIN fold.
Text links are now available on Weblogs, Inc.
We are now supporting highly-effective, and really affordable, text links on the Weblogs, Inc. Network (WIN).
Now for $100-$400 you can buy a link on any of our webpages. The order in which we list them will be determinedfor nowon a first come first served basis.
Here is an example from Autoblog.com.

Technorati down for days?
Has anyone been able to load Technorati over the past couple of days? It seems that I can only get a search done between 12AM and 6AM, and during the day if I do get search done it takes 20 tries. Is it me?!
AdRants Adverpost is good, but new ad formt is too close for comfort.
Love AdRants, love Steve Hall (class act), however this advertisement in an blog post is too confusing. Steve you should fix it because I didn’t realize this was an ad until after seeing it like three times!
Here is what you should do to make this clear Steve:
1. Put the Ad warning on the top of the post as well.
2. Use a different font for the post.
3. Put the post on a background color like light blue or light green like Google does with ad sense.
4. Indent the post a little (if you do 1-3 you don’t need this I thinK)
Here is a screen shot.. as you can see the disclosure is not clear and if you see five posts in a row you will probably miss the tiny line.
Steve, you’re a great guy and have a great site (heck, we want to work with ya!), however this is not good.
