Burning Man 2004 – Disorient Camp
Updated: I put up some photos.
For a the past couple of years I’ve been too busy to go to Burning Manshocking, I know. However, this year I’ll be ther with my peeps at the Disorient Camp from Thursday till Sunday. Hopefully I’ll see some of you there!
Not sure about Internet access at Burning Man I’m assuming some folks will figure out a way to get access (Sat. Dish?), if I can get online I’ll post some photos. If not I’ll put some up when I’m back.
RNC Protests in New York City
Was walking around NYC today and took a couple of shots of the various anti-Bush/RNC posters around town. They seem to be everywhere.
Blogvertise, for desperate and stupid publishers.
Another day another idiot trying to corrupt editorial ugh, when is this going to end!?!
Today I found www.blogvertise.com which I’ll add to my list of idiotic and evil advertising companies along with Vibrant Media and Blogversations.com.
UPDATE: Founder of Blogvertise says it ain’t so in the comments and I respond (click comments below).
Forbes, if you’re listening please kick out Vibrant Media and send a signal to these slime buckets that content is not for sale. Take a stand for something really, it’s not all about maximizing revenue.
If you’re a publisher stand up for yourself, have some ethics and tell these people to go to hell when they email you. That is what I do. Tell them to get a new career because the one they got ain’t working.
Publishing is not easy, but that doesn’t mean you should sell out. Build an audience and stay strong when these charlatans coming knocking at your door, because right behind them are the good guys who will pay you clearly labeled ads. All you have to do is wait a couple of extra weeks or months and you won’t have to whore yourself.
If you participate in these scams you’ll never build a real content brand, and if you have a real content brand like Forbes does you’ll certainly tarnish it.
Weblogs, Inc. gets new design.
In case you missed it we’ve been moving our blogs over to a new, cleaner and more feature rich design. You can see the new design on my blog, http://wireless.weblogsinc.com and http://digitalmusic.weblogsinc.com
Also, we have put up Google AdSense and we are looking at some of the ad networks out there for the image ads.
We should have the rest of the network moved over as soon as we can make all the new image-based logos (ugh, the old ones were text based and didn’t look as good, but they didn’t have to be done in photoshop!).
If you’ve got advertisers you think would work with our blogs feel free to send me an email at jason <at> calacanis dot com.
Team USA Wins lead by”who else”Stephon Marbury!
The mens basketball team at the Olympics this year has been horrible. Today Stephon Marbury, of my New York Knicks, became the highest scoring scorer for a USA Basketball team in the Olympics and Knicks beat the undefeated Spainthe best team in the Olympics.
I’ve been saying you gotta have faith in Steph and let him play his gamea scoring point guard. You can’t win with Steph as a pure point guard not taking his shots, it’s not his game. It will be interesting to see in the next game if he draws a bunch of defefenders.

Looking for a couple of Apple bloggers…
Yes it’s true we’re losing Sean and Greg.
They’ve done an amazing job and Brian and I wanted to take a moment to thank them for making the Apple weblog the most trafficked blog in WIN (the Weblogs, Inc. Network)!
[Note: this doesn't count our B2C blogs like www.Engadget.com, just the blogs under the weblogsinc.com domain name].
If you’re interested in filling their shoes, and you can post at least 50 times a month email me at jason <at> calacanis dot com or via the form tips form.
In New York City
I’m in NYC this Friday and Sat. if we need to get together. There are rumors of drinks on Friday night somewhere on the LES.
Also, I’ll be at Burning Man from Thursday till Sunday.
